Title:       Hospitalist in Adult Internal Medicine Services, and ICU coverage              Facility:       Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics              Department:       Internal Medicine Department and ICU Unit              Summary of Responsibilities:       Provision of medical care within area of expertise in Internal Medicine Department and as internal medicine physician. Will also act as consultant for complicated medical conditions for all specialties in the hospital and support in the ICU as needed              Supervision Received:       Internal Medicine Department Chair and ICU Director              Qualifications (Sex, Age, Education, Experience, Language Requirement):       The staff member MUST hold a medical degree from a recognized medical institution either in China or overseas. The staff member should ideally hold specialist Internal Medicine qualifications, but if this is not the case, at least five (5) years of Internal Medicine or ICU experience at recognized and accredited institutions.       The staff member should be registered in his or her home country and should also possess licensing with the Beijing Medical Board.              Skills:       The staff member should possess skills equivalent to those of accredited Internal Medicine Physicians or ICU services. Skills in general should be applied to the initial assessment, diagnosis, treatment and disposition of ICU Adult and internal medical conditions.              Where applicable, the staff member should treat patients in accordance with hospital and department procedures and protocols. When medications are required, these should be prescribed on hospital prescriptions in accordance with hospital procedures.              Knowledge:       The staff member should possess a knowledge base equivalent to an accredited ICU and Internal Medicine Physician in adult internal medical services.              Responsibilities:       1.Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients in Internal Medicine Department (including urgent, emergent, and non-urgent presentation) and ICU.       2.Help with the coverage of the ICU as requested by the ICU Medical Director.       3.Help with medical development programs of internal medicine, such as develop rules, training plans and QI monitoring systems for hospitalist programs etc       4.Primary doctor to do Co admission with part time Subspecialty specialists in Internal Medicine.       5.Select, order and perform tests and procedures to augment physical findings       6.Define/document differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnosis indicated.        7.Write orders on physician order sheet for tests, procedures and the implementation and management of therapies in accordance with medical protocols. Write signature on chart based upon institutional policy        8. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for plan of care if privileged to do so. Consult as necessary.       9. Interpret data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action including blood gases, radiology, ECG, etc., but not limited to these.       10.Participate in education and training including medical and nursing staff.       11. Participate in community events coordinated by Beijing United Hospital.       12. Follow bylaws and policy and procedure of Beijing United Family Hospital.       13. Take in house on call as assigned by department chair and ICU director       14. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and the Chair of Internal Medicine.
